Here is Derek at Clyde's in Chevy Chase last Saturday for his cousin's baby shower. Baby Ponyo is due in March. Congrats to my brother, Phi and sister-in-law, Mary Margaret. Baby girl will be here soon and Derek will have another baby to hang with. I remember when we were having Derek's baby shower now he's huge! He's approaching 3 months next week.

Headed Out
Here are a few more that Christine snapped while we were on our way out of the house. Dek has learned to enjoy his car seat a little more and isn't screaming in pure terror when we have to get in the car. We've always got to bundle him up. I can't wait until spring when it warms up so we can stop layering so much.

A visit from Christine & Kyle
Here are some great photos that Christine snapped while she and her hubby Kyle visited. Christine and Kyle are wonderful college friends of mine and we treked around Italy and Belgium last April while Derek was still in utero. They made the trek up from sunny Florida to freezing Virginia to meet the little guy. We even took him to Bon Chon where he fell asleep while we enjoyed delicious Korean fried chicken.

Visiting Stella and Baby Isabelle
Derek is already making friends. Here he is showing Baby Stella (only 2 weeks old here!) the ropes. Stella's little girl is adorable! She slept most of the time while Derek stayed awake and hung out with the grownups.

More Cousin Hangout
Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.
Here is Derek and Cousin Elliot hanging out at Peter Pan Buffet before new years. It was wonderful for them to hang out for a bit during the holidays.

Two Months Visit Stats
Derek visited the Doctor on Monday for his 2 month check up. His growth is steady and his hearty eating continues to pay off. He weighed in at 12 lbs. 11oz. and is up to the 75th percentile for weight, height and head circumference! We did find out that he probably has a milk protein allergy (symptoms inlcuded: congestion, curdled spit-up and some rash on his bum and forehead). Which means I am cutting out dairy for now since its getting to him via the milk. Sigh. I thought giving up drinking was hard during pregnancy - dairy is like 1000x harder since I didn't realize how much cheese I consumed.
I also got a gold star from the doctor, since my chatty self just started in about everything ("he is sleeping at most 4-5 hours at night.", "He is developing better head control and enjoying tummy time more"). The doctor said, I wish all my patients were like you! He went to appreciate my bulleted checklist that I brought that divides my notes up into categories like Eating, Sleeping, Behaviours, etc. Its nice to know my obsessive compulsive notetaking skills continue to serve me in the real world.
Oh, and yes, he got 4 vaccines which he HATED. He ran a fever all night and was quite unhappy. He's recovered well and now he's all prepared to go on his trip to Cali next month!
