Derek and Mike were gracious enough to come to Pennsylvania so that I could attend a La Leche League Conference. When we woke on Sunday morning, this is what we saw outside of the breakfast room. Dek enjoyed taking a tour of the weiner mobile but was sad that we couldn't find the driver to get a chance to sit inside. Bummer, it was a pretty cool thing to see up close though!

Practicing for his Emo Phase
Here is Dekboy looking very wistful while waiting to ride the train at Burke Lake Park. It was a rainy day and I didn't get alot of good photos, but here he is just chillin' on the park bench while we waited for the very cranky conductor to let us on.

I am not lion, this is fun (sorta)
Unfortunately Derek's lack of enthusiasm in this photo doesn't truly reflect the good time he is having on the carosel. Since we've become friends of the Zoo (i.e. get free parking), we've been making bi-weekly visits after work to the zoo to see the monkeys and elephants - two of Dek's favorites. This is probably the first time in the last 18 months that he's enjoyed the carousel. When he was about 20 months in Chicago, he utterly rejected the experience and clung to me the whole time. I think this has something to do with taking him to Disney a bit too early and sticking him in those Tea Cups. He has developed more caution with carnival rides (including total meltdown last summer at the Arlington Fair), but now appears that things are more fun on these little contraptions that spin round and round.

Bowie Baysox!
Here is Dek with buddy Conor and Jake (Jake is photobombing in the back). Its been a busy summer, hence the slow rate of posts. Derek spent the afternoon hanging at the game (not sure if they made it past the 4th inning).
In other updates...
Dek has been in preschool for "summer school" most of July, but lots of weekend trips and summer adventures to be had. The good news is he's made alot of progress on not peeing in his pants (he has been poo trained since before he was 2, like around 15-18 months, but the pee has been a much bigger challenge which I think has to do with physical limitations - he literally is still peeing 12 times a day sometimes). He's taking swimming lessons and we're headed to Vegas later this month. Stay cool and we'll keep you posted on all things Derek.
